With over 12 years of experience in neurosurgery, Dr. Francinaldo Gomes maintains a premise: taking care of people, innovating and growing, always with excellence.

And it all started small, even during his neurosurgical training in 2003, when Dr. Francinaldo Gomes presented his idea of ​​creating a Specialized Center for the treatment of people with movement disorders, chronic pain, psychiatric disorders, epilepsy and people in need treatment with medical cannabis in the city of Belém do Pará. The dream became a commitment made to the community: offering the population of the North Region and throughout Brazil a reference in the quality of neurosurgical practice.

But the intention was even greater.

And so it has been done. Built with its own resources, the cornerstone was laid in 2012 when Dr. Francinaldo Gomes returned to the city of Belém do Pará after finishing his training and building his reputation in the city of São Paulo. Since then, services have been made in different places, but always with excellence and dedication.

Since then, Dr. Francinaldo Gomes has become a reference in neurosurgical treatments with state-of-the-art technology and humanized care in the Northern Region of Brazil and has been expanding its frontiers with social responsibility actions and teaching and research activities. One of its most striking features is its ability to innovate.

Pioneering and Social Responsibility

Dr. Francinaldo Gomes’ work in social responsibility began in 2013 with the first surgery to treat epilepsy in the State of Pará, with the implantation of a neurostimulator in a patient with refractory epilepsy In 2016, Dr. Francinaldo Gomes created the Associação Iluminando a Vida aimed at helping people with epilepsy. Through the Association, face-to-face and online events are being held to educate and help people with epilepsy.

In 2017, Dr. Francinaldo Gomes performed the first functional hemispherotomy surgery in the State of Pará.

In addition, in 2018, Dr. Francinaldo Gomes performed the first surgery to treat epilepsy in a SUS patient, at Ophir Loyola Hospital in the city of Belém do Pará. Since then, several surgeries until then unprecedented, have been performed in the hospital from callosotomy to surgery with the patient awake.

In order to achieve the goals, Dr. Francinaldo Gomes has the support of a team of professionals who are duly trained to provide quality services with a high level of excellence and focused on resoluteness. This is evidenced by the high degree of satisfaction of patients treated at the Institute.

Education and Research

Dr. Francinaldo Gomes has a master’s degree in neuroscience and has published and presented works in national and in –
ternational and events. In addition, Dr. Francinaldo Gomes participates as a speaker and mentor in events throughout Brazil and abroad
for training professionals from different areas. In 2012, during the congress of the Brazilian League of Epilepsy, Dr. Francinaldo Gomes was awarded the best scientific work in surgery for epilepsy.

The future

With these ingredients, in the coming years, the Institute will become a national and international reference in the treatment of people with movement disorders
